Continuing in Teaching – How to Stay in the Profession

More teachers than ever before in the UK are leaving the profession within the first five years. The stresses of the job continually escalate and it isn’t an easy time to be a teacher. However, if you are determined and want to do well, it can be one of the most rewarding professions in the world. Here are some tips to help you through:

  • Remember it will get better. If you’re a new teacher, everything can feel overwhelming. Remember that as you get to grips with everything, like any job, it will get better.
  • Plan ahead as much as possible. Good teaching is all in the planning. Make sure you know what you will be teaching and plan engaging lessons.
  • Talk to other teachers. If you are struggling with anything, remember that you have a great support network of other teachers. They will have had similar experiences to you and can give you impartial advice.
